Considering GoodSam Roadside...Questions

Good morning

I am considering the 50% off Special for GoodSam roadside service but I had a few questions

1. I see that the towing is unlimited but you have no say in where GoodSam will pay to have it towed. How flexible is GoodSam on towing if the locations are relatively similar? This is my biggest concern as I dont want to pay for a service that wont tow to my mechanic if I am in town

2. Is there a list of "independent service centers" available ?

3. How is the quality of GoodSam per this board in comparison to AAA?

Thank you!

  • Almost all the roadside services say they tow "to the nearest qualified servicer". They do not have a list that I am aware of since it usually changes due to availability.
They will let you specify a location but will usually charge you for the difference.
I have had good luck with GS Roadside, three times and no issues.
  • Call you insurance company to get a quote. They most likely uses the same tow providers as all the rest as mentioned above. The one time I had to use progressive’s they were good the tow company was overwhelmed that day. I wanted the RV towed to a specific dealer and had to pay an uplift but it was reasonable.
  • my experience with goodsam is they pick the nearest location for service and if you want a different location they will do it if you pay a per mile charge for any additional miles farther than there selected location. Couple years ago it was 1.40 a mile.
  • Just a note, AAA does not tow RVs in the my area , the northeast,
, not sure if that’s a nation wide thing or not?
  • Thanks for the replies.

Is Goodsam "letter of the law" about towing or do they work with you to find a mutually acceptable location?

Is there a list of the locations in which they tow so I can review for my area?
  • Any roadside service organization you join is merely a referral agency (with the exception of AAA that does have their own trucks and employees in some locales). They contract with service providers and when you call they merely call that service provider. The "rub" comes when the amount the roadside service organization has agreed to pay the service provider, who will prioritize calls based on how much they will get paid. They may even never respond if the call will ultimately be a loser.
  • I see your new ,go back and read the reports about GS some good alot not so good. just my .02cts as you read some of them ,it seems if you get a good service person on the phone ,you,re taken care of ,others your up a creek without a canoe
