The only problem about joining a chapter for a newbie is that they will be camping while a group is camping and there will many eyes upon them and many "opinnions" on how to do thing. Not saying that they aren't good, but one on one feedback on how to accomplish the basic tasks is what would be needed the most. I imagine it could be nerve-racking with a group for some.

Not all at the same time. And would be good if one would get actual sound advice from "hopefully" a professional.
I guess the chapter you belong to is different than mine. I can't imagine my chapter ganging up on a newbie and harassing them as you describe.

You can't get a good single answer on here most of the time. To a newbie it would be very overwhelming. You would have one tell them to leave the grey tank open, one that will say not too and then someone will say they leavers open all the time. A new person doesn't need the confusion. They need to know the "proper" way of doing things.
