DEAR MARCUS

I have a suggestion. I was searching for information here regarding WASHER/DRYER options in the RV industry. Would you consider adding some new forum topics such as Laundry, Generator, Vaccuum systems, Stabilizers, etc.?

It would make it much easier to search topics such as these...

Thanks.

  • The problem with too many forums is nobody reads them all.
    I might have the answer you're looking for but I never read 3/4 of the forums here.
    What we need is a better search engine and that is limited by the main forum app itself.
  • You can read them all if you use the "Newest", "Active", or "Popular" links at the top...

    Exactly! I don't see a problem here.

  • At best the things you listed would be sub forums, not forums. It seems to me that there actually are too many sections now.

    The search engine is a piece of cake once you figure out one little thing; if you use the basic search, it only searches the exact phrase as the default.

    If you go to advanced search there are a plethora of options on how to do a search. After you do a search you can even do another search inside the first search. RV.net definitely has the best search capability of any forum I use.

    Here is an excellent tutorial;

    I opine that the people who complain about the search engine here simply have never bothered to learn how to use it.

    Problem is that most threads are answered in the first page or 2, but when they become active and popular, its usually nothing more than a pissing match between forum members. Quite frankly, when I see a new thread come up, I might just have the answer you seek, but when I see that its already gone 5 or 6 pages in a matter of a day (or few hours), I'm going to skip it.

    But otherwise, yes, I think the search feature works just fine once you figure it out.

    And....
    After the second pages you can tell most of the replies are aimed at previous replies without bothering to read the original post.
  • Using the newest or active topics, you can pick and choose whatever you wish to look at. If the post has more than one page, I typically pass over it and go on to another.

    Since I've experienced several different types of RVs, I feel that my experience can help others who are having the same problems I did or learn from replies of others who have a better solution than I do.
