Denial on claim - need someone from GS to contact me

Very frustrated with good sams extended service plan. Have had it in the past with a class a diesel pusher and a travel trailer and was satisfied with the coverage and results. Bought a super C a while back that we thoroughly enjoy and have not had one issue with it. Was on a trip before the holidays and noticed the temp getting warming than usual. all of a sudden the alarm goes off temp gauge swings all the way right then back to normal. I pull over check everything and all seems ok. dropped off at the shop when we got back to check things out and they found exhaust gases in the coolant. Tear things down - passenger side headgasket gave up. Good sams sends out inspector who had no experience with diesel super c's - shop shows the inspector where the failure occurs....long story short a month later after too numerous to count calls to good sams by the shop and myself, detailed information sent to good sams by the shop claim is denied for pre existing. So I would love to have someone from the review board reach out to me via PM to discuss this as. not a happy camper nor a good sams advocate at this point...

  • I have the seals package as well. From what I am gathering they are trying to say pre existing condition as I had a couple of bad glow plugs that caused it. Anyone that knows diesel engines would know how that conversation would work out. I had a member of customer service call me but no one from claims has called me. I have called and left voicemails and spoken to claims of which assured me they would be in touch. The interesting part is no one in GS seems to know of this:

    Dear Good Sam Members:
In researching RV and vehicle extended warranties, I personally became so frustrated
with what is available to consumers—trying to determine what is covered and what is
not—I said "the heck with this" and the Buck Stops Here! When someone buys
a warranty or mechanical breakdown insurance, they want to know that they have
    something they can rely on.
So I challenged our VP, General Manager of Extended Service Plan, Scott Blanc, to
re-design our program. I told him to make our program even better, which is exactly
    what he did.
First, I told him that I did not want to hear about `Wear & Tear". I know that many
members reading this have had warranties and had a claim denied. Here's the good
news—GoodSam will NEVER deny a_ claim for a part that failed due to
the effects of wear & tear. If you are considering purchasing a vehicle warranty
from anyone other than Good Sam, ask them how wear & tear will impact you. If you
get a vague response, you will have a problem.
Secondly, I did not want to hear about Pre-existing Conditions. Good Sam has a
network of independent field inspectors who visit the repair facility in person and take
photos if there are any doubts or if the claim amount is significant. Unless there are
obvious signs of a pre-existing problem or something that was damaged prior to taking
out the policy (rust, old fluid leaks, evidence of prior repairs, etc.), the claim will be
    paid. PERIOD!
Thirdly, I demanded that the Good Sam Extended Service Plan be affordable and
flexible—something that I know members want based on what I've been hearing. You
can set up monthly or quarterly payments instead of paying all at once. I also required
that the warranty be transferable when you sell your RV.
I'm so confident in this product that I'm going to tell you point blank: you'd be
making a big mistake not to call 1-866-725-9412 for your free quote from one of
    our certified agents.
We look forward to hearing from you!

  • I guess head gaskets are considered "regular wear and tear" items in some policies, although "pre-existing condition" does sound a little far fetched. Seems odd, but there are always two sides to every story. I'd like to know why they denied the claim, on what basis specifically they decided it was pre-existing, and was there a specific written caveat in the policy regarding head gaskets and other replaceable parts considered failing due to wear and tear, before drawing any final conclusions.
  • If they want to claim that a blown head gasket is a pre-existing condition, they in effect, then COULD claim that ANY failure of ANY part on any RV no matter the type is a Pre-Existing condition.

"Well, it was going to or could possibly have broken down eventually, so therefore it was a pre-existing condition that finally came to fruition. Claim Denied."
  • Preexisting condition that just showed up? Hard to swallow Good Sam.
  • Of all th horror stories we read on RV forums I’m surprised people are still wasting their money on extended warranties. Good luck
