Discount totally useless. When FlyingJ and Pilot prices are $.40 higher on diesel than the gas station across the street. Used the card once did not get any discount. Will not use again. Good Sam card just about as useless. AAA discount does the same thing.

I just come back from Florida and have same problem , never got any discount. Good Sam never mention we need to call Flying J Customer service . No mention on their site , advertising etc.

I believe you can print out a temporary id card and present it with your charge card at the desk of the Pilot/Flying J to get your three cents off. You can also apply for the Pilot/Flying J charge card and get four cents off at the pump.

All this is good information but..... We have been waiting since August to receive our permanent card. Twice we've been told it was sent. We have received other communication (and our CW gift certificate) but still no card. Just about to request a refund and forget them.

I tried using my Good Sam card and also did not get the 3 cent discount. When I called Good Sam, they said my card was not activated and they would take care of it. When I then tried again, on my return trip, same problem. No 3 cent discount.

Here's an update on my blog of the Flying J card. On my way back home from vacation, I stopped at the Eloy, Arizona Flying J store, just to test them and see if I could purchase items inside the store with my Flying J card. The clerk told me that as long as I had my code, I could purchase anything. I picked up different food items and trinkets, and paid for them with my Flying J "charge" card. So there it is. Not all Flying J stores handle these cards the same way.

An update on the travails of the Flying J RVPlus card. I stopped at the Flying J in Ehrenberg, Az.,this past Friday, and used the Flying J card to get gas up at the pump, and got my discount. I then went inside the store to get some food items, and presented the same Flying J RVPlus card to the clerk. She told me that the Flying J card was not a "charge card." When I told her I had just used it to get gas, she looked at me with a puzzled look. She again said it was not a charge card, whereupon I showed her the front of the card, where it said "charge card." She then replied, "Well, I guess it's just for gas, but not for food items." I did not want to argue, so I paid with another charge card. So, my question is this. If it is a charge card, why can't I use it inside the store to purchase just about anything on sale? If she is totally wrong, then it would appear that I am about the only one who runs into some sort of new experience every time I walk into a Flying J.

Following up to answer your Visa question:

"I have two VISA cards from Good Sam. One is red and is stamped as RECREWARDS and has the Good Sam logo, while the second card is also stamped as RECREWARDS, but has the Good Sam and the Camping World logo. Different account numbers. Why two VISA cards?

The red card with Good Sam logo is your former credit card through Barclays and is no longer valid--please destroy the red card. That card was converted to the Good Sam Camping World Visa through Comenity. In this transition all Barclays account numbers were converted to new account numbers through Comenity. The card with the Good Sam and Camping World logo is your current card.

To answer your questions:

1. "if I use the Swipe & Save Good Sam Club discount card and a generic charge card, I get 3 cents off." Yes, when you use the Good Sam Club membership card, you get 3¢ off & you can pay with your preferred form of payment.


2. "If I use the Pilot RV Plus charge card and the Good Sam Swipe & Save card, I get 4 cents off. Is that correct?" No, you don't use the cards in combination, you use one or the other. The RV Plus Charge Card requires an application process through Pilot Flying J. Once approved for that card, then, yes, you can use the RV Plus Charge Card and save 4¢, required form of payment is the RV Plus Charge Card.
