Thank you to those who responded. I do realize the parks pay Good Sam to be listed and I know that is not cheap for them, however if Good Sam offered them a break in price to give bigger discounts even if it was only as much as 20% instead of 10% that would give better value to the Good Sam members. The reason I mentioned the price of gas is because most RVers use gas or diesel to get to parks and it is not getting any cheaper so why not give a bigger break on RV camping.
It sure would be nice when the price on something went up people would just lower the price on other things so that it would all even out, but that is not the way economics work. What would you say if your company said, hey gasoline went up $1.00 a gallon so we are going to cut your pay a dollar an hour? That is what you would be asking the RV park owners to do, cut their gross income by 10%, which probably would cut their take home pay in half because none of their other cost are going to do down. Regardless of what they imply in their advertising, Good Sam is a money making corporation. Their goal is to make income for their stockholders. The Good Sam discount is a hook to get you to buy your membership, which lands you on their mailing list so they can sell you other products. The discount is not a charitable activity done as a community service.
