Ha! Glad we aren't the only ones. First time it happened while in the paddock on a race weekend. My race group was called to grid so we put our dog in the cab of the truck while I get the car fired and roll off towards grid. My wife then puts dog on a leash and walks up trackside. Except that our dog locked the truck doors. After that experience I put a hide-a-key on the frame rail.
Second time it happened while I was stopped on a truck scale at a very large and busy gravel pit/recycle company. Said company serviced both private and commercial accounts and only had this one scale for entry and exit. There was a pretty steady stream of dump-trucks going in and out of this place.
I get out of the truck and start walking around to the scale shack to pay my bill when I realize I left my wallet on the dash. Go back to get wallet and find that our dog has locked the doors again with the engine running. I pay my bill and as I exit the scale shack I see two dump-trucks with pups waiting for me to get out of their way. As I'm laying on the ground reaching under the truck for the hide-a-key I hear the following over the yard PA, "Rick we have a stall on the scale, trucks waiting" and look up to see this guy come flying around the corner on a large front-end loader headed for the back of my pickup. Needless to say I got in quick like and got out of there. No time for ERS in this case. :)
Good times.
