Good Sam Insurance

Question

First I want to say thank-you to Good Sam. We have Road Side Assistance and would not do without it. We changed our Vehicle insurance to Good Sam Vehicle Insurance (National General) a year ago. We had a $1500 claim in July of this past year. We knew our insurance would raise because of this but WOW. Our premiums went from $600 every 6 months to $1795 every six months. We called and talked to them, but they said that the quote was correct. So if you are thinking of changing your insurance to them you might want to think twice. Needless to say we canceled Good Sam insurance and went back to our old insurance where we are now insuring 2 more vehicles than we had covered with Good Sam insurance and it is only costing us $957 every six months.

They make 12' poles for those that wouldn't touch Good Sam insurance with a 10'er. I shop insurance every year to look for a better deal than I have now with Progressive. GS rates change daily depending on who calls me that day. The online quote is different still. Not a company I want to deal with.
I signed with Explorer and am happy as a bucket of clams. The reviews are great and their rate is 1/3 less than Progressive.

Upland. National general is not good Sam insurance. Technically good Sam is just a brokerage and write through several different companies. We have allied, written through good Sam. It is half the price that we were quoted for national general. They push national general because there's probably a bigger kick back for them with it. But you can always ask them for a quote through companies.

We had National General through Good Sam.  Although our premiums were paid in full, they wanted an additional $76 to cancel our policy at the end of its term.  We had made no claims.  I guess that helped pay for the kick back to Good Sam.
