I have been a critic of the logo for years. My objections have had nothing to do with the religious aspects of the logo, though I can surely see why it would be offensive to persons of non-Christian Faith.
What I hate is the demographic it depicts. The guy is straight out of the 1950s. Does anyone believe he does not wear Bermuda shorts, white knee socks and black shoes? He is pretty much a Jackie Gleason Clone and probably threatens to "send his wife to the moon" if they have a disagreement. Got news for Good Sam corporate, that demographic is aging out.
We don't agree often RVPO but you got the idea I was getting at. And you bring up an excellent perspective. That the RV Parks, regardless of who owns it, are saddled with this inappropriate logo on their buildings and ads.
And you are dead right on the demographic issue. If you look at who is really RV'ing today the average age had decreased dramatically. this logo says nothing to those under,...lets say 80.
This Logo MAY and I underline MAY have been appropriate in the 1950's but it has certainly lost all semblance of relativity since.
