Good Sam Not So Sure!!

Left home within an hour of home blew a inside duel tire on my DP motor home. Called Good Sam to help out. Purchased Good Sam road side assistance because I was told it was good throughout North America. When I got a hold of them I was told That I had to contact and find a tire repair company because they do not deal with any one in Canada. So I started to call around, every company I talked to said they did not do cash work after hours you had to have an account with them. So I called back to Good Sam to see if they could help and set something up. They said they would call and see what they could and call me back. Mean while I called a company that I had purchased tires from and left a message on their answering machine. With in 15 minutes they called me back and said they would be down with a tire in 45 minutes. They came down changed tire and we were on our way. Called Good Sam back to see how they were making out with our problem and they had no record of our call. The lady I had talked to was now off shift and did nothing about our problem. Great Service. Was told that they would help out with cost of service call but I had to fill in certain forms for this to happen. Any way we continued on our vacation. Three hours farther down the road alternator quit working. Able to get off four lane highway into a parking lot. Called Good Sam for second time in 4 hours. This time I was told that nothing could be done until morning 3am at this time. That we should drive to safe place to stay and they would send someone in morning. If I could drive Motor home I would not have called them in first place. I then called a cab and went to Wal-Mart and bought a battery charger and started up the generator and kept things going to get back to Wal-Mart for rest of night. Called Good Sam told them where I would be and they said they would have someone to me first thing in morning, between 8 and 8:30. In morning no one showed up by 9 am called in again. No RECORD of call from night before new person again. She said she would find someone to send to help us out. An hour later a gentleman in a van shows up and has a look in the motor compartment, says a wire has corroded off and that we should go 15 miles down road to truck repair centre and they would have parts to help us out, by the way did not charge us for his advice. Needless to say we limped 15 miles down road to repair centre and they were able to get us going. So twice in a 4 hour period we called Good Sams and both times I received nothing from them. I paid all costs I found repair sites and when I got home there was a reminder for renewal of there services. I doubt it!!! Was told that service was as good in Canada as US not according to there staff. Coach Net here we come can't be any worse.

  • Well, I am happy to say I had a good experience with Good Sam. Truck quit Sunday night at 10 pm on Hwy 37 about 40 km (25 miles) south of Jct 37 on the Alcan Hwy. Good Sam arranged for a tow to Watson Lake for the night and then into Whitehorse the next day.
  • Triker 33 that is what I thought too. But running just the generator would not give enough power for the Allison trans to operate. When I hooked up charger I was able to work trans. It is a Dutch Star DP with Cummins and Allison Trans.

You don't list what model your MH is.
But on most you wouldn't need a battery charger to power the engine.
Just start the generator up and you could drive home or a couple days with no problem as the generator would keep the battery charged if you have a Inverter/charger.

This guy will be honest with you and do his best to make you happy.......but this should not have happened. The consensus seems to be that Coachnet is a much better organization.

And when you are wronged you can always go on their forum and complain.
