While in Statesville, NC recently, I noted the left inside tire to be without air however with tire bead still seated on the rim. Lucky I thought. Next step was to air up the tire and check for leaks. Unsuccessful, I found the problem. The valve extension which should rest within a rubber insert on the outer wheel had been vibrating which developed a pin hole in the metal extension. Lucky again as this allowed air to escape very slowly which in my opinion saved the tire.I called Good Sam and explained the situation. BAM ! No roadside assistance unless I purchase a tire ! I tried unsuccessfully three times to explain I had found the leak. The C/S person repeatedly stated, we will not send you assistance unless you buy a new tire. TOTALLY UNACCPETABLE. "But I do not need a tire", I told him. "Those are the rules he replied."I called severl Tire companies in Statesville. Less than 1.5 hours later, both rears had been removed, the leak confirmed, a new 5" metal valve extension was installed plus he aired up all tires to 100psi as a courtesey. Total bill was $109.00 which I gladly paid. I gave the repair person $20 for my gratitude.A Big let down. . . .as Good Sam Lifetime members, plus Platinum (or whatever they call it) Roadside assistance, plus, plus, plus. . .we got the shaft when we needed service. They are totally unwilling to compromise if the customers need is outside the box of "tell the customer this" rules and regs. Always get a name prior to discussing the problem. Use his name when asking for a supervisor. Very surprised he wouldn't let you speak to a supervisor. Guess like any insurance you never find out how good or bad it is until it is needed.

I have called Good Sam Roadside Assistance with a flat tire on the 5th Wheel, I had a spare... I was never ask or told I had to buy a new tire before they would send someone... they dispatched a company which arrived about 30 min. to an hour later, changed my tire and I was back on the road...

I was thinking of going to Good Same after having AAA Premire do something like this to me for 3 1/2 hrs. They didn't tell me to buy a tire, they just did not show up at all as they said they would. I guess GS is the same!

We had just changed from Coach net to Good Sam earlier in the summer. On our trip back from Iowa we had a problem with our MH at a rest stop in Illinois. After stopping for lunch when we went to start there was nothing. We checked the regular items such as fuses but no luck. We called Good Sam Road Service and within 45 minutes they had a mechanic show up from Midwest Fleet Service from Wilmington Illinois. He did a complete diagnosis of the problem and eventually found a corroded connection between the battery and the fuse panel. He cleaned the joint and presto MH was working again. He was on site for less than one hour and we paid $150 for his service, and Good Sam paid almost the same for him to show up. We were very happy with the service and with this mechanic and was glad to pay the fee. It was a Friday afternoon and the other choice would have been to tow to a For Garage and try to get service. A big thank you to Good Sam and to Midwest Fleet Service.
Would recommend both to anyone.

Yes, Rachel did place a call to me on the date you reference. However, she left only a voice mail (still available) stating who she was and the intent of her call. She left no telephone number or email to which I could respond and follow up. As for GSRA not meeting my expectations, well, yes, they did not. The specific expectation was that of "listening" to what I was saying. The CS on the phone hammered the point that if I did not agree to purchase a tire, there would be no assistance.

Frankly, the readers/members have I am sure, endured enough of this rhetorical exchange of "what has and has not happened" resulting in no resolve. Given we spend in excess of 8k per annum in our motor home, our peace of mind lies with the knowledge we have the right company supporting us should we need assistance. As of today, I do not have that comfort level.

I think that these type of posts should happen more often. Not saying that any poster is wrong, but "no news" to the rest of us is not good. I know that some may exaggerate or fib a little. Maybe this type of "open" communication can be good for other gsra members and prospective gsra members.

AAA is NEVER as good as Good Sam Road Side or CoachNet. AAA is so regional. One area can be as diferent from another as night and day.

also the are NOT geared to the RV needs

Well, many Sunday's have come and gone yet no one has contacted us by phone or email. Mail, yes, but all marketing to get us to spend more money for more services we may or may not benefit from if used.

We have traveled almost 5000 miles since the incident in Statesville with Tire Minder staring me in the face. We also have a spare inside tire metal 5" valve extension. Checking these is routine at every fuel or rest place.

Marcus, back to you. . .we indeed hope to hear from someone so we can say: "Now you know the rest of the Story" Paul Harvey rest in peace

I was stuck at a campground at the Indy 500. It rained early Monday morning. I tried to call Good Sams road side assist and got automated response and never got an answer (I realize it was Memorial Day).

I ended up calling a local number on my cell and got a tow service. Luckily my insurance co reimbursed me.
