In many states the cost of camping in a state park is about half or less of what a private facility costs. How much more of a discount do people need?
Not any more. Some state parks are at over $30 a day. Ad up to around $40 for just electric and water if you are lucky.
Agree. We're heading up to the AZ high country tomorrow to a state park and it was $95 for 3 nights, about the same as the private campgrounds in the area. I'm willing to pay a premium in a state park if I know the funds are being put to good use. When we were up in Colorado a few weeks ago at Ridgway State Park, I read that the park is able to keep about 95% of its revenue and put it to direct use in that facility. And it was noticeable how well that was working.
