I have learned that once you have a blowout, replace the blown tire ASAP to avoid being caught without a spare.
This is the second set of tires and are they not even two years old. My tire guy suggest we take a look at all 4 tires, and sure enough, the other 2 were suffering from case separation, which he is replacing without charge. as for the other 2 he only charged me his cost for the 2 and will refund me anything he gets back on the claim. The blown tires have been submitted for claim and we are waiting there response. I Also have the Customer service number so I plan on giving them a call tomorrow, just to give my 2 cents worth. The tires that blew were Tow Masters load range E. The Marathon was what I got at Walmart and was also what the lady stated that they ONLY install.
Now to get back to the issue at hand.
I had no problem with the 163.00 Labor charge for installation of a tire.
I know about hourly wages, gas, equipment costs, and of course convenience. I also expect that some of this should be covered in annual fees.
For example:
AAA would have come out towed my trailer (on a dolly) to a facility to have a tire installed, which is covered by there annual fees and guess what...no charge.
Yes I would pay for the tire and install that the shop charges, in this case $166.00., but not 563.00.
Now I'm not complaining about a 163.00 labor charge, that's about what I was guessing. It's the quoted "MINIMUM $400.00" charge. Not estimate, but Minimum charge of $400.00 that about spun my(and my wife's) head off it's shoulders,It could have been MORE!
I would have drove 100 miles for a tire than rather pay that. Why am I paying Fees for a service that does nothing for me. It definitely didn't save me from anything, except be my personal shopper (I like that one) which they suck at.
I could have called a tow myself for cheaper, WHAT DO I NEED YOU FOR!!!E.R.S.!!!
Now I get it if I was driving a Prevost with a tire/wheel combo weighing over 300lbs and had a blow out 1000 miles from a tire, I'd probably pay whatever, but then again, if I was driving a Prevost I would have a staff to change the tire for me. A moderator wants me to contact them regarding this, what they can say, I don't know. What's done is DONE. Well at least they like to talk, let see what they have to add......
