Good Sams Roadside assistance

My motor home went into safe mode while returning from Findlay Ohio. After spending two hours trying to find a garage that could analayze a Cat engine. I found a garage that would do it. I needed a speedometer sensor and a transmission sensor. After another three hours finding the parts. I was ready to pay my bill. First you have to call GS to get approval to do the work(20 minutes wait). Then afterwards, you have to wait while GS has to ask questions like how many miles do you have on the coach today, vin number, etc. The cost of GS amount was $ 90.00 I paid my deductable.I also should mention it was a very hot day and I had 3 horses in the trailer that I was towing. While I waited I cared for the animals water etc. After listening to the customer service lady's questions and 5 hours of pure hell. I decided to heck with GS and paid the bill out of my pocket. GS call me a total of 10 times to get my business but I will go without before I ever sign up with GS again.

  • Dear papa1948

I'm sorry to hear about your frustrations with Good Sam ESP. Breakdowns are never pleasant, and waiting on the phone after a long hot day is not fun. Unfortunately, as an insurance product, we do have to verify some information before we can authorize a claim payment.

If you can fax or scan me your invoice, I'll send you a check for the claim.

Again, I apologize for your frustration.
  • I don't understand, you say you have GS roadside assistance but you want GS/them to pay for repairs? You need GS extended warranty for that. So which policy do you have? Roadside assistance would get you a tow and find a shop but it stops from there.
  • I'm just guessing, but I don't think you mean roadside assistance, I believe you are talking about the extended warranty. I do have an extended warranty, not GS, and I have had many different companies extended warranties over the years. All require prior authorization before the work is done, and this usually is only available during "normal business hours." Of course the company needs to verify the VIN number, mileage, ownership, etc, otherwise anyone could use your policy for their vehicle. If you are really writing about roadside assistance, you made it to a service facility, therefore GS would have no responsibility. JMHO
