OK, as I understand it SGRA covers replacing a flat tire on my RV. If I have a spare they will come out and change the flat and put on the spare tire and wheel....am I correct?If I do not have a spare tire/wheel they will send out a service to either repair or bring new tire and do this service on the roadside, However the cost to dismount the tire/mount the tire/and new tire are at my expense....am I correct?I ask due to having a problem that fits kind of in a grey area maybe. We are getting ready to leave on a trip. I look down at the rear outer dual tires on our motorhome and it looks low compared to the usual way it sets. I check the pressure and it is reading 35# no where near the 95# it was last filled to. So I air up the tire and as I am putting the valve stem cap on for some reason I decided to wet my finger tip and cover the end of the valve stem and bubbles formed. Bottom line is it would appear that the valve stem is leaking.Would this fall under a Good Sam Roadside Service call? It is a flat tire and a big tire and wheel it is on our diesel pusher. Would my cost be the cost to remove and replace the valve stem?

Before you go to all that work, are you sure the core is tight?

Yes, I was able to get a valve core tool in there and check. It is tight. I have also tried pushing it in and letting it pop back out to see if it would re-seat itself, but no such luck.

If this was on a trailer or some such sized tire that I could do it myself I certainly would. But the size of this does not allow for such an option of DIY.

GS road side assistance-My understanding is that they will remove, replace and /or have a new tire brought to you but that the replacement of a stem (metal) would be at your cost which seems reasonable to me, just my opinion.

As we discussed, the price of a tire that a provider brings is determined by the provider. Sometimes there is a "reasonable" markup for the tire but a member should never feel as though they were gouged. In those cases the markup can range between 10-15%. I too had an opportunity to use GSRA on 8-31-13 on a Saturday in the middle of a Louisiana swamp (well not quite - had just exited the LONG Actchafalaya Basin Bridge when BOOOOM !!!!!!! One of my one year old Goodyear Marathons on the left rear explodes --- wow what a show with all the banging and people swerving everywhere on I-10 !!!!

Took the 2.5 hours but someone came demounted the carcass, put the spare on the 'nice' wheel and 'only' charged me $175 for the replacement tire (not used, but not new either)

While all the service was fine, thought the price gouging on the spare was a little high, but given the heat and the drive, I decided to get it...

Is that the norm for the GSRA ????

WOW, now I'm impressed. Good Sam does watch out for it's members it would appear. I appreciate your offer Zach, and will take you up on it should I need your assistance after calling and requesting service.

Makes me wonder why I stuck with Allstate/KOA RV roadside membership for so many years. OK, I know why I stayed with them, they gave me a free KOA membership card every year included with the Roadside policy.
However, earlier this year I took Good Sam up on one of the mail out offers and now I glad I did.

I would do that, but my old AARP registered member fat fingers don't allow me access to do that through the holes in the aluminum wheels. I was able to get a core tool in and check tightness, but my fingers won't allow me to reach back far enough to unscrew the core and keep a grip on the tool.

And I sure don't want to risk a blow out and the related damage that comes with a tire doing so.

Let them know that you do not feel safe driving the motorhome and they will find someone to replace the valve stem. If you have a valve stem tool grab a new valve and replace it. This can be done in place. Just pump up the tire afterwards. Going the RSA way seems like a huge waste to me...
