Here's why we're dropping all GS coverage

Last July we purchased Good Sam Roadside Assistance for $99.00. Luckily we had no occasion to use it. We were aware it was coming up for renewal, so we weren't surprised to receive a mailing stating, "Invoice Enclosed, Platinum Membership," and "New Membership Cards Enclosed."

As with all GS mailings, you never can tell what is a sales "come-on" and what is legitimate. The cards were heavy plastic and looked real. However, one card had my husband's name on it and the other card had some woman's name we'd never heard of. And, upon further inspection we saw that there was a different account number, but the number of years as a customer was correct.

I called GS customer service and explained that we couldn't tell what we were supposed to do with the mailing. The snotty representative flippantly gave me the spiel about being given a trial membership until July. She should have been able to tell that we were actual members whose service was up for renewal. Not very bright and not service-oriented.

She couldn't explain who this other woman was or why her card was in our mailing.

I told her to cancel our membership. We have since gone with Coach Net for Roadside Assistance and Sky Med for Travel Assistance.

How do you get off the GS mailing list?
