How many databases exist for customer info? -UPDATE

This morning I logged on to goodsamclub.com and updated my mailing address. Then I used the web contact form to request the Lifetime Member card that I never received (and noted that I'd just updated my address). Within a few hours I got an email confirming that my card would be sent in 4-5 weeks - to my old mailing address.

I recall stopping in a CW store 3-4 years ago and experiencing the same problem with different databases that were out of synch. Does GS ever intend to consolidate customer info in 1 database? Or at least keep them synchronized?

  • I have to agree hat there are multiple databases and even though they are probably supposed to sync, that they don't. At least not fully. They have me as my first name in one and my middle name in another. Address is the same in both. Didn't look the last time at CW, but months after trading in the TT and getting the motorhome, it was showing up as a TT on their screen. I had updated my account online within a couple days of the rv change.

I've mentioned it many times that Marcus needs to get someone or some people in there to clean up their database issues. It seems like they keep putting band aids on it. When I go in for service, even the service writer has a difficult time finding my rv in their system.

PM sent, but I'd still appreciate an answer about the databases.
My guess is you're not likely to get one.

I tend to agree with that but holy cow, how long will they keep putting band aids on symptoms instead of addressing the root cause?

  • Depends on the database. My experience is that most commercial databases don't immediately update because of the shear volume of updates,.

    You work for GS?

As a former database administrator, 24 hrs makes no sense, especially since my correct mailing address was displayed on the website. That requires a call to the database.
