Oddly, just before we left yesterday, I opened an letter from good sam. it concerned my tow membership that I've had since the 1980. I'm a lifetime charter member. I usually pay every 5 years. it is up in Nov 2020. Letter said that they NO LONGER COVER MOTORHOME'S. Huh????? so what do they cover??? so I called them and they said that it was an extra $75 to cover moho's. I use to drive for AAA, yeah, like a tow truck. So I'm a bit caught flat footed on the phone, trying to figure out if the woman is kidding or it is a scam. BUT I DIALED HER! I asked what the purpose of the tow service for me if she doesn't cover moho's, as I have 3 of them????? she sputtered a bit and said that they will still cover them i pay the $75 extra. Wait a second, I've paid, in advance until 2020, we have a contract!!! "Oh, no we don't she says, we have a terms of agreement"... I go really??? she says "and that it has been changed"... "Moho's are extra"... So, I says "How can I expect you to honor a future contract if you don't honor our current contract?" "Well that has been changed",she says..... I say" I didn't agree to that!" "hmmmm guess when I get back I'll have to get a refund" as I will not pay more for contract that I already have paid for" I said "don't make any changes now, if there are any problems I'll use my insurance company tow feature while I'm on the road". sounda like Good Sam has becoma BAD SAM!!! So, you if you own a moho, and you have paid for coverage, they will not honor it....And you will be stuck out on the road. Does this mean that all the other services that Good Sam offers can be pulled at the companies whim? Does this mean that the prices of the contracts are now negotiable even after they have been paid for, in advance? Does this mean that the insurance they offer can be raised mid term?

I got a letter with new cards and a "complimentary upgrade" for the rest of the year. I've had good luck using GSRA for years, but I'll be switching when my current coverage expires.

Wow, every time I read a new post on these forums about GSRA, GS memberships, and Camping World, it just gets worse and worse. This is so sad.

Well it's nothing new now is it? As far as their clubs and memberships read the fine print. "We reserve the right to change the terms at any time for any reason".

For a fun time take a Camping World Flyer, take the super sale members only price and do a web search for the exact same sku of anything in that rag. It will be substantially cheaper elsewhere.

You have to read some of the emporer Marcus Augustus Earaelius Lemonis's books to understand it. It's all about making as much "profit" in the present as is possible, and when the entire house of cards comes tumbling down which it eventually will, so be it. That's what bankruptcy is for as the money has already been made, sucked off, and squirreled away in the next endeavor. He is a smart SOB and the people who buy into this whole deal on the bottom end are not so smart. Now if you owned a local dealership and entered into an agreement to affiliate with CW that might be a smart move financially for the present. But when the s hit hits the fan if you retain ownership and go back to independent just be prepared to spend years rebuilding your customer base.

So what did the upgrade really get you a tow to the nearest repair shop .even if you don't want them To work on your rig What happened to platinum plus where the would tow you up to 100 miles.what did you have befor if platinum is a up grade?

I can't speak to the experience of others; however, in my case, they upgraded me to platinum for the remainder of my contract without charge. When I looked it up on the website, it was apparent that renewing would be at the Platinum price. I don't see anything wrong wit what they did. However, I didn't like the price increase either.

Al I can say about this is if you don't read your service brochure (contract?) all the way to the end you didn't do yourself any favors. As I was reading this thread something came to me that I read one time or two. Find your brochure/contract and read through it again, particularly "IMPORTANT NOTES" That's where it states services, prices, etc. are subject to change, "effective for the Member upon earlier of either the date of your next renewal of
membership or the membership anniversary, at which time the amended brochure with those changes will be provided to the Member."

Contract or not we were all on notice prices change could happen. Not saying I totally agree with it, but I did have the chance to read it and decide if I would keep it or not.

I guess I need to open and read what I often consider to be snail mail Spam and not rip it up. Having a 2020 expiration date does not make me happy. I carry both GS and AAA to manage any and all possibilities. Yeah, the cost of doing business is rising. Perhaps time to reconsider. Less campgrounds are accepting GS and CW prices can be offset easily with a keyboard. Email sent to GSRA. Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!
