- JimK-NYExplorer III saw something like that being built in southern Utah. It was disgusting. Killed lots and lots of scenic and beautiful land.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerAt least down here they aren't failed lawyers -- they're just plain old fashioned robbers.
EVs will never be seen more than their their range radius outside a city. Saw a California plated VOLT crossing the line southbound Saturday. - azrvingExplorerBut but they are sure the schools will be fixed forever as soon as we vote for casinos.....
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerAt best, government is like a fart in a whirlwind. California raised gasoline prices what (?) six months ago to solely repair the roads.
Big statewide news headline
Giant pothole in interstate 5 takes out 17 vehicles. All were towed. Where on I-5? A few miles outside Sacramento City Limits.
Wind farms kill migratory birds by the tens of thousands. Mirror concentrators go one step further and fricassee them.
They can't get their act together over high speed rail. California is supposed to be the most progressive areas in California. But calls to thin live oak brambles mat stiff resistance by ecologists who suffered having their house burned to the ground by their own ignorance.
Test the EV concept in a tightly controlled area of the state. But they won't do that...they will fumble the ball again and again and again and do what any politician will do when faced with a failure. Throw enormous amounts of tax money at it until (Not! Becomes A Success) but cannot be termed an utter failure.
Many Californians on this forum are too young to remember the Abbott & Costello grade idiocy when the state initiated smog controls in the 1970's. Around then was when damaged engines started emitting black and blue smoke and then new laws were enacted to get the polluters off the highway.
Millions upon millions of charger connections and no Draconian taxes regulations and laws. "Come just a little closer" urged the Big Bad Wolf to Little Miss Riding Hood. - azrvingExplorerOthers may also remember this, back when I was in high school they were saying the glaciers would soon move down and cover everything. They now also say that moving from animal production would make a huge impact in emissions. No, not the animal fart thing but all the resources that go into eating meat. It was mentioned in a financial article where they are working on ways to grow meat and one method that uses a fermintation process like brewing beer. People have already moved to many products such as almond or rice milk etc.
No, I'm not saying dont eat meat, I was just reading it while looking at investment oportunities. They also say some young people want everything sealed in plastic or they dont feel its safe or clean. Maybe they are the same ones who would ban OIL!! Duuuhhh lol - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerThat would be ungovernmental of them
- Dusty_RExplorerTwo things.
First. A farm is a place that produce food.
Second. Michigan ranks 47th out of the 48 continental states. Yet companies come here from out of state and want to build tracks of solar panels, then sell them to our local electric companies which will demand a raise in rates charged to electric users.
Why not build build them in states that have a much higher rates of sunshine? - wa8yxmExplorer III

4ish square miles of power equivalent to 1/5ish the power from a single natural gas fired power plant on less than 1ish square mile. Our future?
The problem is we miss the boat.. Folks complain that sun loveing things that make oxygen do not thrive under the panels (in the shade) (True Making O2 takes Sun) but why have we not panaled our roofs. Over our roads and parking lots and the sun facing sides of buildings. Any how many square miles of DEAD SPACE (By dead I mean nothing green and oxygen producing grows there) that is exposed to the sun every day?
(THe math, or rather the data upon which to perform the math, is above my pay grade).
I have suggested to some folks roofing our freeways with Solar Roofs.
Cut down on accidents caused by Sun Glare
Cut down on Snow on the road (And rain)
PRovide support for a "Soft light" system that makes it basiclly day on the freeways 24x7 but not so bright as to disturb what is NOT on the freeway. Lots of advantages. .and not one square inch of Green Space shaded. - AlmotExplorer III

All that sunlight not warming the earth. OMG it will be global cooling!
Maybe not, with heat reflected back to atmosphere. Warm weather begins with warm air. Effect of large-scale solar farms on climate has not been studied well yet. Water circulation from earth to air and back to earth is also affected, and so is plant growth. If anything, the total effect of shading will not be positive. Atmosphere pollution is different thing though.
It's like crutches - you lose one leg, get crutches, more stress on the rest of the body, can't walk too far and easy to fall and break bones. Should've taken care of environment earlier. Give people more condoms. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerIf 80% of the motor vehicles on earth are still hydrocarbon fueled forty years from now, please explain to me what has been gained.

Will not be electricity transported. India? Surely you jest. Nigeria? Kenya? Australia? Right! 10,000 miles of powerlines to fuel road trains and cattle stations.
The objective is to clean up the air not die of bleeding-out from stabbing a hundred "feel-good badges" into one's chest.
