4ish square miles of power equivalent to 1/5ish the power from a single natural gas fired power plant on less than 1ish square mile. Our future?
The problem is we miss the boat.. Folks complain that sun loveing things that make oxygen do not thrive under the panels (in the shade) (True Making O2 takes Sun) but why have we not panaled our roofs. Over our roads and parking lots and the sun facing sides of buildings. Any how many square miles of DEAD SPACE (By dead I mean nothing green and oxygen producing grows there) that is exposed to the sun every day?
(THe math, or rather the data upon which to perform the math, is above my pay grade).
I have suggested to some folks roofing our freeways with Solar Roofs.
Cut down on accidents caused by Sun Glare
Cut down on Snow on the road (And rain)
PRovide support for a "Soft light" system that makes it basiclly day on the freeways 24x7 but not so bright as to disturb what is NOT on the freeway. Lots of advantages. .and not one square inch of Green Space shaded.
