After 50 plus years with State Farm Insurance, we are moving to AAA on August 1st.The AAA membership includes a roadside assistance feature that looks like it will do everything Good Sam does, so I'm wondering if I really need GSRA any more.I have used Good Sam several times over the years, and have been pleased with the results. I just don't want to pay for Good Sam if the AAA coverage will provide the same response.If you have - and have used AAA - how satisfied have you been?

Does your AAA cover all vehicles, tow vehicle and trailer?Does your AAA have a distance limit for towing? Compare the policies side by side: Good Sam

Just read a thread stating they were dumping AAA as they would not change an inside dual - no help on dual,tires per their rules.

AAA road side service- 1. Do a side by side comparison of services provided and limitations.2. Does AAA provide the same services universally I.e. City to city, county to county, state to state, Canada & Mexico? Is their a mileage limitation for towing services? Will they tow both your tow vehicle and RV at the same?

The problem with AAA is there a different regions with different rules.It has been reported here that one region will not change an inside dually.Another region reportedly will not tow your trailer to a CG if your truck breaks down and needs to be towed.SOme clubs limit there service to paved roads.Some clubs have a limit of 4 service calls per year.AAA New York has no RV coverage. Coverage in this region extends very far north of NYC.So as long as you stay in Texas you may be fine but leave your local club area you are at the mercy of the region you are in.AAA to many variables

For the extra $100+ dollars a year I would get Good Sam for my RV needs. JMHO

In my case, every call for service to GoodSam has been handled professionally and efficiently. So, from my perspective, it has been HASSLE FREE. I believe that the majority of the calls are handled the same way. Unfortunately, most members come to this forum only to complain and never to praise. Some of the stories here are so far fetched, that in my humble opinion, they are greatly exaggerated, or in some cases, downright false. I know I will take heat for saying this, but I think there are a lot of members of this forum who spend all their lives just looking for something to complain about.

AAA RV coverage changes by region. You may not get what you paid for at home. Coachnet is my choice since they are RV centered. Good Sam also deals with RVs. Some AAA regions do not. Read carefully and decide.

I had a 350 mile flatbed tow in Alaska in 2008 that was about $2200 worth and I paid nothing but simply signed with my Coachnet membership. Three other smaller issues have always been handled promtly and efficiently by Coachnet on RV and cars. Others prefer GS. READ the fine print and compare. Coachnet offers 24x7 tech phone assistance too. Not sure about GS. Find one that works for you and stick with it! May you never need it.

Over 50 years I used my AAA policy a number of times. I currently have the 100 mile policy which takes care of RV's. I've tried Coachnet and didn't find any advantage for the additional cost. I've have AAA really go the extra mile to get me assistance - even calling the rangers in a national park to check on me (they ended up helping) when they couldn't find a wrecker to get to me until the next day. I had policies with Florida and Texas divisions - maybe their just better than the northeast ones.

My vehicle insurance has towing also, But it has a limit as to what it pays .
It will only pay $150.00 to the nearest garage. And I don't think 250 bucks would tow a Motor Home very far for 150 bucks. That's why I have RSA.

Triple A Plus is required for RV service, and on the site that linked with my zip code, towing is limited to up to 100 miles. GS doesn't have that restriction...will tow to nearest service facility even if over 100 miles. I think quality of service may depend on where you break down.....they have a list of participating towers and they call one that is available. I've heard that towers prefer to tow for AAA but I've never been able to confirm it.

We have AAA for our car and truck, and Coachnet for the RV. Have used Coachnet a few times with good service. Have only ever needed AAA for a dead car battery. AAA is too iffy for RV use, IMO.

In my area AAA will not tow a trailer and there are other limitations when it comes to Rv's I have keep GS ERS over the years for that reason, you need to ask them about RV's and trailers and how or if they handle them in your area
