Just joined

Greetings. We have been pulling our campers around the US for 8 years now, and finally joined Good Sam Roadside Assistance. I was wondering how long it usually takes for our membership cards to arrive. (Joined on 6/23/13) Also does this allow for the discount on diesel at Flying J truck stops or do I have to join Good Sam Club? Hoping to have my membership cards before leaving for Tennessee in August. Thanks-Shane

    Hi marco1b,

Yes, you’re right, we have made an addition to our fuel discount program. Using the new Good Sam Club Swipe & Save membership card, members save 3¢ per gallon on gas and diesel instantly at Pilot Flying J. And, can pay however they like!

This addition is not because there was lack of participation in the Pilot Flying J RV Plus Charge Card, but rather because we are trying to bring instant fuel discounts at Pilot Flying J to all Good Sam Club members.

You’ll be receiving our new Swipe & Save membership card in your membership kit in the next 3 weeks.

Members can still save more when applying for and using the Pilot Flying J RV Plus Charge Card. Members can learn about the difference online!

    Sincerely,
    Good Sam Club Team

Need clarification on the Flying J fuel discount.

I joined Good Sam's yesterday and was told that the Flying J discount program had changed due to lack of participation for the flying J discount card. The membership services who signed me up said that now the Flying J card was not required to get the discount. That being said, I see advertisements on the GS website (if I'm interpreting the information correctly) indicating that the flying J card is needed. Which is correct? Is it a case of the GS members gets a fuel discount without the flying J card, but gets a deeper discount with the flying J card?

    Thank You,

We were at a Camping World over the weekend and when checking out they offered the "new" Flying J discount card (not the charge card) if we added a year to our membership. Since I'm already two years out on my expiration, I declined it, but there seems to be a change. Apparently you swipe it at the pump for the discount and then can pay however you'd like.

I already applied for the charge card, but have not received it yet.

Isn't the Good Sam/Flying J thing a charge card? Is there a substantial savings difference between that and the plain vanilla Flying J discount card you can get at any Flying J?

    Hello cKarlGo,

Yes the discounts offered to Good Sam members through the RV Plus card are in fact the deepest discounts they give. While it is true that it is a charge card (not a credit card), if you were not a Good Sam member you would only get a base line discount, but as a Good Sam Club member your discount is even better.

    Hello jagocampers,

Thank you for your post, and thank you for your membership. Typically your Roadside Assistance cards will arrive within about 2 weeks of when you signed up. Also if you log into your account on the Roadside Assistance website you can print off Temporary Cards.

To get the Pilot Flying J discounts you will first need to join the Good Sam Club, then sign up for the RV PLus card from Pilot Flying J. I hope this information helps.

  • It will take weeks to get your cards.

I believe you will have to join the club to get the flying j discount, but you will have to sign up for that after you join the club.
  • I think you can go on the Good Sam web site and down load a temporary RS Card. I think that the Flying J discount card is a seperate and that you have to sign up with Flying J.
