My solution to all of this is just to use a good cash rebate credit card. That way I can shop anywhere I want and get my own discount that I am in control of. Even if it is a basic 1% cash rebate card, perhaps the discount isn't quite as high as the Flying J / Pilot fuel card discount but the difference, in my opinion, doesn't seem like enough to really worry about.
