National General autopay feature??

I e-mailed Good Sam yesterday. When we switched to N.G. I wanted the auto pay feature right off the bat and when asked if it was okay for the call to be recorded to authorize it I said okay no problem....well apparently it did not go through because we get a notice of cancellation at which time I paid online. So I did the online auto pay form and still it did not go through, so I filled out the PAPER form and was e-mailed from N.G. that it didn't get through quick enough and we would have to again pay online or call and NOW I was just notified via e-mail that they have misplaced the flippin form and or information and I would have to do it yet again. What the heck is going on? This is a rather simple process yes? Am I going to have a problem if we happen to have a claim? We switched from AAA and never had a problem except they seem to be stuck back in the 90's with there website and to make any policy changes is a rather arduous under taking always requiring a phone call to an agent for something I KNOW I can HANDLE on my own.
My wife is more patient than I.
  • Killian52,

Thank you for your post. If you could private message me with your contact information, I will make sure someone from National General contacts you in regards to your enrollment. Please let me know. Thanks.

  • Thank You for the reply's and I did some of my own due diligence before signing up with NG and I couldn't find any "unusual" complaints including here on RV net. In fact I couldn't find any at all here which to me is not normal. But yes trying to save a quite a few bucks on coverage. I do not know anything about Coach net and I might take a look. AAA covered us specially with the TC and I am really thinking of just going back. We HAD Onstar, had a blow out leaving Yosemite and one very nice guy was trying very hard to help us, I had to let the jack down to get a good connection because of the camper over hang, but we got disconnected and the main Onstar person would not reconnect us even after I gave them his name which turned out because of money like 1k for a TIRE. Needless to say I hung up and called AAA got a wrecker from Lee Vining and a $50.00 tire and with mounting and that got us home and then some. Why we switched, we have met a lot of people with GS and I like the network of help and really just some good people. Wish GS and AAA would get an Onstar type setup that would be AWESOME!! We have a travel trailer as well and I wanted to get it covered, NG did in fact have a better coverage plan. Taking to much for granted? just because GS has there name attached, BUT you would think they would want the best.
I will wait to hear from GS and then make a decision from there. The wife says be patient which is not me at all. I am very much a Taurus through an through when it comes to insurance companies and the like. Edit: No I have not spoken to NG and I should not have to and that to me is part of the point, why bother to have an online website in the first place? Supposed to save them time and money, more time to somebody that REALLY needs help. I spoke with an agent when we first signed up and THAT should have been enough.

    But Thank You again!
  • Have you spoke to NG on the phone? I am not a GS fan. In fact just switched to Coach net. However, I have had NG since 1989 and they treat us good. Whenever we switch vehicles or change coverage we speak to them on the phone. (we pay on line) If there is any question we ask for a supervisor. We had small claims. Never a problem. As far as cost. It is difficult to compare costs because we carry very high coverage. I agree with you on some coverages. Although many insurance companues insure, they didn't have everything we wanted. Call NG on the phone and talk to a supervisor.

When I was looking for insurance for our MH, National General was the only insurance company that would insured our MH as our home so all our stuff was covered in case of loss and we have liability in the event someone gets hurt in or near the MH. AAA, Farmers, and Progressive only insured the MH as a vehicle, our belongings would have to be covered by our homeowners insurance, which does not work because we own a mobile home and I have not been able to find an insurance company that will insure it. National General is not the cheapest and only time will tell how they handle claims, which hopefully I will never have to find out :)

    Should look into companies like:
    National Interstate, Bluesky, Foremost

We used National Interstate for 7 yrs when we FT traveled.
Home owners policy (same as S&B Coverage) PLUS slip/fall, contents, motel expenses etc.
    They specialize in FTrs Insurance

  • Can't get you signed up and proof of payment........I would be scared IF had to file a claim.

    Why are you using NG?
Lowest price doesn't mean best coverage
