We use a AAA credit card for all fuel purchases, and only use it for fuel purchased at the pump. We get a 5% not just 5cent discount credit on all purchases at any fueling location ANY. NOT just at flying J 5% at $ 2.40/gal is .12c / gal. Good Sams discount 5cents is laughable
AAA knows this, and has called on my cell ph. to verify that I am who and where I am when I attempt to exceed the limit I set on the charges and designated my travel.
Designated charge accounts will also sinplify your bookkepping, as we have done while we owned the camp, fuel charges during season were for business use, in off season for personal use.
Where we could claim expenses for business use in off season, for example. to attend a convention, having separate credit card charge accounts for each aspect of travel.
We Established credit card charge accounts with 4 banks and many local businesses and were very careful to delineate which is which.
1 - personal
2 - business
3- fuel
4- vehicle
In each category there is no guess work as to tax deduction when it comes time to file with the IRS.
You will do better, and safer( identity theft ?) with charge accounts assigned to only specific purchases .
Your credit card company will assign approved purchases to only specific type businesses you specify.
