Park not honoring G.S. w/o the Exp. date on card....

When Good Sam merged with Camping World they sent out new membership cards. When we received ours it didn't have an expiration date on it. I called Good Sam regarding it and was told "that's the way the cards are now". I tried to get a better answer because I could forsee problems. No dice.

Well, tonight we stopped at a Good Sam park in Idaho - the first Good Sam park since receiving our cards. I showed my card but she explained that because it didn't have an expiration date on it she couldn't accept it.

I explained the answer I received when I called Good Sam. She showed me her paperwork as a park member from Good Sam with a color flyer showing what she should accept in the way of cards. The flyer showed a Good Sam card with an expiration date.

She said because of the confusion she's had with other folks she'll go online to Good Sam and verify that we are, indeed, members - which she did. She printed out this membership expiration date confirmation which she said we should show to a campground as proof of membership. She also advised us to get a card with an expiration date on it.

So Marcus....what can you do for us?

  • All Good Sam campgrounds are on the network and all they have to do is type in your membership number and all required info is available to them.

    I've got several. Some say life and some say 2051, which I guess is the year that GS is betting on me "expiring". Lol

    Never been turned down for a GS discount - not yet anyway.

  • Mine has an expiration date on the back but it's an awfully flimsy card.

  • Very nice of both the park staff and GS. We will be traveling in the U.S. next year for about six months. Looks like I may be swayed. I'm keeping track of the good and the bad. So far, looks like the good is winning!

If able could you send me a PM with your GS information and contact number. I would like to order you new cards. And the new cards have a expiration date. Thank you for all your help.

  • I had one of the undated cards, but when I renewed I got one with an expiration date.
