I will not in good conscience doubt thee basic elements of Joyce's story. Isn't it obvious that these folks are/were in a very stressful situation? Who is to judge if they were making what others may think are proper decisions. Our own reactions might not be that far from theirs. Isn't it wrong that in this case family isn't there to help? thank God for a good samaritan. So.. easy to criticise, to judge, so hard to support or look for ways to improve.
If you are stuck on the side of the highway, you need assistance right away, not in a few hours or in the morning.
Life gets complicated when one grows older, especially with sickness. Growing in the country you learn to survive, BUT humans are not islands upon themselves.
Can't we not be more constructive here?
