Really disappointed

Have your read through the 'Exclusions Section'?

Every policy has what is covered and the 'exclusion' part.
Some covered parts are not covered if a non-covered part fails causing damage to covered part.
Some covered parts are not covered under certain incidents.......act of God.
Some covered parts are only covered for certain amount of time.

Point is.....every policy is written by them, for them.......not you

Best you can do is read the fine print/exclusions and then decide IF the other part of policy is cost beneficial to you.

Have to give the salesman credit. He is a good salesman.

I am full aware of what is covered and what is not due to reading the fine print. For tires to be covered, you have to pay extra for that AND the tires have to be proven as failed and not just a flat that blew and damaged your RV. We specifically paid extra for slide room coverage, not stereo systems, not tires.

The more people post true stories like this the less GS ins. victims there will be.

Always best to read the policy and know what is and isn't covered.

at the risk of being called "CW bob" I am just wondering if anyone has ever heard of an insurance policy that covers valve stems and next why would it not be covered by the manufacturers warranty on a 5 month old brand new RV?

Bob, to bed honest we didn't check into the mfgr's warranty--we just called Good Sam because it occurred on a Sunday and we had no other option for getting back on the road where we were. The Roadside Assistance membership covered the "service call", but we were liable for $87, a prearranged 'book' price, in parts and labor--for what turned out to be a five minute service call. We already had the rig up on jacks to protect the rim so they didn't even have to do that. For $87, you could argue that we actually paid for most of the service call too.

And no, we didn't read the 'fine print' in the policy, but reasonably speaking who, after being told that this extended warranty policy covers tires--the salesman bragged on that point over and over--would not have expected a faulty valve steam to be covered? Anyway, the experience just points out what a poor decision it was to buy this coverage. (I thought so anyway: we'd have to have over $4000 in repair expenses to even break even--better to put that money in the bank and consider ourselves self-insured.)


What we should have done is punctured the tire with a knife--THEN it would have been covered.
