Renewal - Swipe and Save

Was at our local Camping World yesterday. When checking out, the clerk mentioned that my membership was expiring in Feb. Told us that if we wanted the new swipe and save we had to renew right there "today only" for 2 years, all in all was being a bit pushy about it.. I said no, like to renew on-line and I still have a few months and besides I have the RV plus card.
Is there any truth that there is some window to renew and get the new card?
If not, why would the clerk at camping world push it this way. Normally, everyone I encounter at CW is very helpful and this clerk was regarding my purchase, however I really hate pushy sales tactics especially on a membership I already have. I really don't like misinformation.
Finally, Why the push to renew a full two months before my membership requires it?
