repeated service issue

Having my windshield wipers stop on my Damon Daybreak, I had them repaired at Camping world in Columbia, SC . Later in the year it occurred again and I took it to Lesters RV in Newberry, SC because I was not happy with the time and quality of the work. Lesters replaced wiper motor and module. This year the wipers quit again while on a trip. I took the unit to Camping World of Valdosta,Ga. They adjusted them and sent me on my way. The very next day in Florida they quit again. I drove the unit back home and over to Camping World in Columbia. After three weeks I was told Good Sam Service would cover the issue. Only ten minutes ,Camping World called me and changed their mind and not cover the claim. I am now having to pay CW for the time spent and take it back to Lesters for repairs because the wiper motor is still under warranty there. I have left numerous calls to Mrs. Smith at Camping World in Spartenburg where the unit was originally purchased to get a refund on the service contract. She has not called. I couldn't make up a story like this if I tried. My thoughts about Good Sam's service is that they will use any excuse to not pay a claim. I am out hundreds of dollars with no end in sight.

  • Still waiting for repairs to be made. CW installed all new wiper equipment and the wipers still won't operate. My frustrations with this saga are unbelievable. They have had my unit since March 23rd. The latest is that the wiper control on the steering column isn't working and they don't do that work. They are taking it to a Ford repair shop only after I refused to sign off on the repairs they have so far done and take it to Ford myself! I can't believe this kind of service is tolerated by coach owners like myself. Is there any remedy for this delayed lack of service?
  • Up-date on wiper issue. the business manager at Camping World was able to get some of my service repair bill reduced and for that I am grateful. Although I am not totally satisfied, I have at least found that the CW and Good Sam people do try and accommodate their customers. Remember the cartoon of the goose trying to swallow a frog and the frogs hands are tightly wrapped around the gooses neck? It reads" Never give up!"

  • to end this wiper problem, I am having Camping World in Columbia replace every thing on the wiper assembly. As the Good Sam service will not pay for it, I am paying out-of-pocket all the charges. CW has reduced the amount to help with this expense. I hope this puts to rest this issue. As to the service plan, I am not pleased and I would urge anyone that is pressured by scare tactics to buy this plan , reconsider as I haven't seen them deliver as I was told by the CW sales people. As of now, I still have not received a phone call from the business Mgr. at Camping World in Spartenburg, SC concerning a refund on the service contract. I don't know that maybe the CW folks make it difficult to get a refund on purpose. If so, something should be done to rectify this practice .
  • Happened to me once. Wiper motor was shorted out by movement of wiper arms under hood.

If it is what I think you need to seal the pigtail from the wipermotor at the plastic connection to the plastic plugin to the power. The pigtail extends about 6 to 8 inches from the wipermotor. Moisture gets into that connection and causes a short. Most common is they stay on and you can't shut them off or they stop and won't turn on. Once the connection is dry the wipers work normally. This was a common Workhorse chassis problem. A lot of folks just wrapped the connection with electrical tape to seal out the water.
    Good Luck

Times 222222222222222222 - When it rained heavy wipers went berserk.

Raised the motor wires as high as possible with plastic ties. Used waterproof plumbers self sticking tape and wrapped all the connections.

    No more problems.

  • Am I missing something. The wiper motor is covered by the dealer that fixed it, Lesters, but you want another dealer or warranty service to pay for the repair. Shouldn't it be Lesters' responsibility or the motor manufacturer's responsibility to authorize out of area repair? I'm not sure GS is using "any excuse" not to pay a claim, rather they are using the specific excuse that it is covered under an existing warranty. I totally understand your frustration, it is just that it may be misdirected...then again maybe not.
Hope it all works out, and Happy Trails.
