resorts

Why are there not more CtoC resorts in Ontario? What happened to the new one that opened in the Murtle Beach area last year not in the book this year? John
  • Hello bigdogger,

Thank you for your post. To clarify Parks do not pay for their ratings. The ratings are done by the Good Sam Directory Rating Team. Bruce was stating that Coast to Coast pays the Good Sam Directory Rating Team to rate the Coast to Coast resorts. The parks cannot pay for a better rating.

To answer your question on Ontario, Coast does not own nor operate any of our affiliated resorts, so we are reliant on independent developers to build or purchase/open resorts that affiliate with us. Coast continues to support new resort growth, and we have seen our current developers add new resorts over the past several years. We have had a developer purchase a resort in the area near the New York/Canadian border, and I have walked the resort myself, but it will need work before it is reopened. Regarding Myrtle Beach, we regret that Cypress Camping Resort decided to drop their affiliation with Coast after one year. We continue to speak with them, and hope they decide to reaffiliate with Coast. To the point on ratings, Coast is the only company in the membership camping business that provides ratings for all of our resorts. We pay the Good Sam Directory rating teams to rate our resorts, and combined with member feedback, we strive to maintain a quality resort system. If I can answer any more questions feel free to repost or email me at bhoster@goodsam.com.
Since when did parks start paying for their ratings in the Good Sam Directory? If this is true, it is a MAJOR departure from what has always been communicated to the buyers of the directory. Trailer Life and Woodalls (the two publications merged into the Goodsam Travel Guide) always advertised that their ratings were independent, parks did not and could not pay to be rated. If parks are paying to be rated, it follows that they could pay more for a higher rating, rendering any and all ratings useless.
  • We joined C2C recently while snowbirding in the US.
    We live in Canada.
We were told we would receive our package in the mail
and our new resort directory. We bought the Premier Membership.
Needless to say, very disappointed when pkg arrived with no new
directory. Found out we had to mail in verification of certificate
to receive the "3 day once a year trip".
We then will be notified by email of the places we can go.

Needless to say, mail from Canada to the States is still back to
pony express days. Why can't all this stuff be sent at once.
I have tried sending emails.....to no avail.

Our 2013 directory has different parks than the website.
There must be a better way to have customer service.

Really? Your privy to that information how?
  • The new campground in Myrtle Beach dropped their affiliation with C2C after 1 year.
