Road side assistance

We are couple from Illinois ,enjoying RV life many years.
Thia year we have been camping in Mississippi and my wife had medical emergency. We decided to drive our CRV tow home to get help.
Our trip was cut short, 900 miles from home we hit a deer. Our car had extensive front damage, and become disabled.
We called Good Sam Road assistance, and the answer was "NO", if collision with another car, or mechanical breakdown so it 'yes".
I tried to explain that deer caused the collision and damage.
and the answer was "NO".So we paid for rental car,not to mention RV on campground.
My question is to have Emergency road assistance for 11 years, the best
they can say "sorry, we can not help, because deer not a car"
This is my experience and i would like to share with fellow RVers.

  • Well I know a company that covers RV collisions roadside assistance and towing as well as other automobiles and they only charge $40 and your fully covered for accidents etc...
  • This has been my experience with both Good Sam ERS and Coach Net ERS. The quality of service provided by either is very dependent upon the person you talk to on your initial call-in. If you don't get the results you think you should be getting.... HANG UP.... and call again to get a different person. Chances are, you will get someone (hopefully) more experience and can provide you with the service you need.

As here, the OP's initial call was thwarted by an inexperienced person and then the reply here contradicts what that person said and gives the correct info.

  • Thank you xmonacolapalmax for your post. I can confirm that Good Sam Roadside Assistance covers you and your vehicles in the event of an accident, including hitting a deer. It sounds like coverage was confused with "trip interruption" benefits (lodging, meals, alternate transportation reimbursement) that only apply when in a collision with another vehicle.

If you will reply with a PM per the request above, we'll look into the specifics of your situation and advise.

    Thanks again for the post.
