On Friday as I started out on a trip I got about a mile from my home when I had a breakdown. Called GS roadside assistance to get it towed home. After almost an hour on the phone they told me that they instead of towing it they would send a mobile repair and all I would have to do is pay them whatever they wanted. If I wanted a mobile service I could have called them myself. She also told me that if the roadside service couldn't fix even though I payed for it then they would have it towed to the nearest repair facility (30 miles away)and I would have to pay them .Butthey would not tow it to my house 1 mile away.I think it is time for someone to stop running around playing TV star and telling people how to fix their companies and find someone to fix his!

I may be wrong but I thought they would tow it to the closest repair shop. Not surprised that they would not tow it to your house. Again this is just my thoughts.

If I wanted a mobile service I could have called them myself.But you would also have to pay for the service call.GS pays the service call $$. You only pay for after they get there.So how was the fixed done? And the problem?

I am sure that GSRA will be on here responding soon to this. I have had my vehicle towed to my home before, no problems. It may be the level of coverage that you have. JMO

You have a legitimate grip, I've had problems with roadside assist in the past and I'm sure there are many other with similar incidents.

How crazy are they?? One mile tow would be the cheapest way out. I'm sure you will get the same response from the Marcus team but that does you no good after the fact.

I may be wrong, but I am convinced that the GSRA call center is not owned or operated by Good Sam Enterprises.

After reading so many of these complaints, and the few op's that do come back and tell us what happened, it seems clear that GSE had farmed this out. Which from a business standpoint makes sense, but only if it is not ruining the company reputation and causing problems for your customers.

I have asked this question numerous times on this forum of GSE and they dodge the question. Allstate puts the information right on their web page stating: "Our Road Service call center is owned and operated by Allstate" (paraphrase)

It would not surprise me to find that the vast majority of the issues seen on this forum originate in the call center.

The problem with any road side assistance program is that you are at the mercy of the person you talk to. Some will work with you and provide excellent service while others seem to that that you are bother and interrupting their day. I'm sure there other others that fit in between and provide mediocre service at best.

for some reason the emergency brake locked up. I refused service and managed to free it up enough to limp it home at 10 mph.
