Not entirely true. This is a voluntary program of the Direct Mail Association, a trade group of junk mailers. The mailer CAN send the list to DMA for cleaning. They pay a fee. No obligation to do so. It might help, but I am pretty sure Sam doesn't subscribe. Even if they did, member mail would be considered asked for by the member.

You should have all the******that a business owner gets!!!! including the phone call that the DO NOT CALL does not apply to a business neither does the junk mail stop services. So we shred and use it to mulch the garden/flower beds and mulch the shrubs with. a good use for fertilizer.

Oh yeah, the hazards of those unsolicited mailings. I've quit ordering through casttalogs - it seems like once you start doing that, here comes all those catalogs from almost everybody out there. I think most companies sell those addresses they got from customers. I also have a suspicion even those non-profits and charitable organizations are doing it. I donated to one and lo and behold, here comes all those solicitations in the mail. So frustrating!

Why should you have to pay a fee to stop what is junk ,wrong, and not asked for?

We're full-timers - without a sticks home so we use a mail forwarding service and the mail forwarding company is our address - everything goes there. When we want our mail we email them and they ship it out to us - everything, including junk mail and catalogs. We pay for the shipping. We could have them sort through it and discard the unwanted stuff but as I stated, we rarely receive any junk mail anymore by signing up on the above website. Also, selectively sorting through it would be an additional charge. Actually, we don't receive much of any mail anymore because bills can now be done via AutoPay. This is how it's done when full-timing. :)

Best way to not get Sammies "Special Offers" is not to get an account with Good Sam Club. It is not required to do so!

I sort of like the paper junk mail. It gives me paper to start the wood stove in the winter. :)

Now the junk email is something else, can't even start the fire with that. :(

Good idea about the opt out for junk mail, Mark. Of course, the junk mail is probably what is keeping the USPS from totally shutting down. Might be a good trade off though. ;)

Unfortunately GS in not the only junk we receive in the mail. With everything from asking for donations, re-upping magazine subscriptions that don't expire for 2 more years, credit card deals and the list goes on. I agree we shouldn't have to deal with it also. The LOL was left off my post. There should be an opt out for all junk mail like there is for telephone solicitations.
