Still sittin' but help may be on the way

on 3/23 because of "no activity" since 3/20... I no expert so I may be reading it wrong, but three days? Does Good Sam always close topics so quickly?

Anyhow, Dexter has built a new, correct axle, it's been shipped, and in theory it'll be in Kingman tomorrow. So, HOPEFULLY, I'll be able to get out of Arizona sometime soon...

As for HOW GSRA will transport a disabled 5th wheel... I DON'T CARE HOW THEY DO IT. If they CANNOT actually get the trailer to a repair facility, REGARDLESS of length, height, width, smell or whatever, SAY SO BEFORE you take the money for the emergency service.

As I said in the original topic, I spoke to someone (Darren?) from Good Sam, who assured me he would investigate and I'd "be hearing from him by the end of the week"...

It appears that dragging the 5th wheel to where it could be fixed on three wheels is not optimal for the remaining tire on that side. We'll be replacing that in addition to all the other stuff.

  • Yes, I heard from a person who told me he was manager, would investigate and get back to me by the end of the week... The end of that week was around 10 days ago at this point...

He did ask if there was anything GS could do for me... I can now say "yes"...
    1. Since I paid for 3 YEARS of Roadside Assistance, which has now failed not once but twice, I'd like a refund.
    2. Since I had to replace an extra tire because of possible/probable internal damage due to extended, severe overloading while I limped the unit all the way to Kingman, I think it would be nice for GS to refund the price of the tire, mounting and balancing.

    I don't think I"ll hold my breath.
  • Sorry to hear you got stuck, it's a pain for sure. I have to ask, what were you expecting Good Sam to do? Flatbed the trailer? Because if you were looking for them to tow it back into town, you could have done that yourself...which is what I would have done. Not ideal having only one tire on that side, but go at 30 mph with the flashers on back into town and find a guy to replace the axle.

I too have waited hours, but these roadside assistance companies are only networks of guys that agree to do tows for a fixed rate. Tow operators join as a way to get business. Nothing in their agreement with GS forces them to take any calls. So when you call GS, they call the list of guys that have signed on to cover that area, but if none of them want the call you are stuck.

ALL roadside companies work like this. Bottom line, you gotta be able to fix your own problems. Good Sam is well worth what they charge for it, but don't expect one call and your on your way.
  • I'm curious, after Ella closed your first thread did you ever hear from anyone at Good Sam?

Thats GS standard reply, "Sorry to hear...give us your contact info... and we'll investigate.."
  • Yes, they close them fast.
Glad things are looking up for you!
    Thanks for updating us.
  • Correct, you are no expert and you got it wrong, anyhow.

Four posts..FOUR..and all rags on GS.
