Stuck on the side of the road!

So did a long weekend trip and had a front blow out. Called roadside and they were having trouble with understanding my location. I was then told CSR would call me back but never got a call back. Received a call from the local authorities telling me i was on the side of the road and they were sending a tow truck out. Meanwhile no mention or news from roadside. I declined the service b/c i thought the officer who was on the side of the road had contacted them. By now 1.5 hours had passed and i was still on the side of the road. I decide to call Roadside again and this time im told that since im on a toll road they cant find a provider and they have contacted the local authorities. I really wish they would have told me that before. So after all that time the local authorities send a wrecker out to change my tire and then tell me that I would have to pay them and Good Sam would reimburse me. Long story short blown tire at 2030, wrecker arrives at 2330, wrecker completes replacement at 0130 i arrive at campsite at 0400. On top of that i am out $300 for a tire change. I really hope i get reimbursed for this.

  • Just wanted to update everyone on the my original post. I want to say WOW first of all the customer service provided by Frank was amazing. Not only did he make things right by processing my reimbursement he took the time to personally go beyond what I expected. Coming from AAA I can tell you that this level of customer care or service did not exist. I believe Good Sam has earned a lifetime member!

Thanks again Frank for your help with this matter.
  • Wouldn't it be a benefit to everyone to post a sticky at the top of this Roadside Assistance forum listing all the "Roadside Assistance Member Benefits"?

It certainly should clear up a lot of the confusion for those who post here offering their advise to a customer's complaint.
  • Poppy & Nana, thank you for your post. Regarding law enforcement and toll roads, please note the following from the Good Sam Roadside Assistance Member Benefits Brochure:
“At their discretion, law enforcement officers may radio for a non-program emergency service provider. If this happens, please call for reimbursement information. Towing or disablement service charges may also be eligible for reimbursement when a law enforcement officer requests those services from a non-program provider in the event that a Member’s vehicle breaks down on a limited access or toll road.”
I would like to suggest sources which can address your questions in detail: (1) Member Benefit Brochures and FAQs available at goodsamroadside.com, (2) E-mail contact with a Member Services Agent available at goodsamroadside.com, and (3) Member Services Agents available 24 hours daily, 7 days a week at 1-800-601-2850. Thank you for your membership.

  • We once had a 4 hour wait for a tire change by Good Sam - this 30 miles south of Nashville on I-65 so not in a remote location. To reassure you, Good Sam made it right and then some. Hope you are treated as fairly as we were. Be patient.
