This was the first time we attended a Good Sam Rally and I was very hesitant to participate fearing the worst. I was quickly impressed by all the efforts and coorindation that went into making this event so successful. We booked for earlybird which was Tuesday morning, June 11th. Directions were clear and we arrived at destination without any problems at all. We were guided and quickly and efficiently parked in the infield within 15 minutes of driving on the grounds. Unfortunately, the weather was not good and it rained for several days before and during the rally. We were unable to set up chairs or the BBQ because of the mud but with all the activities going on, we didn't need them. We stayed in a State Park for 2 days prior to the rally and needed to be pulled out of the mud as we had sunk down to the storage bins. We were lucky to be on solid ground at the rally. We saw several RV's that needed to be pulled out of mud at the rallyas the ground was way too saturated with water. If organisers were able to find supplement parking on dry ground at the mall in that short of a time, then thumbs up to them! The volunteers were the best! If organisers weren't able to provide RVers with information immediately that may be because they were dealing with an emergency situation and had to handle too many RV's at once. I'm sure they couldn't just let RV's sit around. They had to move them and get them parked as quickly as possible. All in all, I look forward to attending more rallies. As any of us that have had to organize events at one time or another, we all know that we can't please everyone and that there is always something unexpected that happens. Congratulations and many thanks to all that made this event possible.
Marcus, everyone... especially us RV'ers, know you just can't out-guess the weather. Surely no one can blame Good Sam for this situation... I can understand being disappointed, but upset with Good Sam, no way.
This is a great post "Kensue", nice to hear how helpful all the volunteers and organizers of the Rally were. I know from all of the years of camping / RVing, weather can create the un-expected... I know I have been up to my "lug nuts" many times over the years while camping...
