Many companies seem to think because you are a steady customer you owe them some kind of allegiance. Some of the insurance companies even seem to think they can charge a cancel fee if you decide to go elsewhere when your insurance expires. It isn't a happening thing. Several years ago an email phone service actually re-submitted my credit card when I didn't renew my annual account. Actually forced me to file a fraud charge against them.
GS seems to be bordering on these tactics a lot lately. I switched ERS. Next will be insurance then I no longer need the GS club. I suspect my insurance would be a lot cheaper with another company.
