Thank you for your post. However you do not need to be a member to access the diffrent offers we have. All you have to do is from the main page click on the Services Tab which is right next to the Why Join? tab, and it will provide you a link to the diffrent things we offer from TravelAssist, Roadside Assistance, Insurance, Extended Warranty Service, Financial Services. It does not require you to be a member to access those things. Anyone can go to www.goodsamclub.com and view that information.

All the advertising I received for offers, discounts, new services offered, etc., all direct me to the GS website.

Which is why I found it frustrating because I 'wanted' to see the new offers and possibly purchase them, but did not want to join the GS club to view them, which was required to enter the site. That is where my frustration arise from.

I would guess a new person just starting out and researching RV'ing would feel the same frustrations not being able to read all about your services on the website without having to join them first.:?

You are wrong, GS did NOT go to my profile page and change the settings for me, I went in and did it myself. Go back and read the thread, the poster who had his settings changed was another user.

The OP's rant was about excess mail. As he is a Life Member, he can go to GS website and select his prefernces as I explained. He could have done so in a shorter time that it took him to post. As it turned out, management did it for him - talk about customer service... If you are getting junk mail because of different circumstances, then do something about it besides hijacking forum posts.

And if you don't like how GS does business or their business model, then you can cancel your membership.

The author of the article quotes Marcus as saying;
the company could best be described as “a financial services company that has some clubs and magazines as marketing tools.”

BTW, the Good Sam Club was started as an offshoot of a for-profit magazine. It has never been a pure 'club' to my knowledge.

I subscribe to GS ERS and that does NOT entitle me to use their website unless I pay an ADDITIONAL fee to join GS club.

I don't think I should HAVE to be forced to subscribe to another GS service I do not want, to be able to access the website.
Which is interesting because that is where they direct you to be able to choose your preferences, only thing is GS expects you to PAY for that privilege I guess.

And for those that say all this direct mail is not a problem. It IS a problem when you have a PO BOX and they keep closing your box because of excess mail that doesn't fit and it is ALL GS mail.

All you need to do is got to goodsamclub.com, log in, click on My Account, then click on the My Communications Preferences. Then simply uncheck the boxes with all the "BS" items. Your particular rant can be rectified by unchecking the options - ie. Cancer Care under services. No hinting or refreshing of memory will be required.

This information was in my member packet - so it helps to read that stuff.
