The unsurprising failure of GSRA

A few weeks back (against my better judgement), I purchased 3 years worth of GSRA platinum on the off chance that I would need assistance. Well, today I needed it in the form of a jump for my dead car.

Four, count them four, hours later, I still have a dead car. GSRA just informed me that it was not their problem that the dispatched company had not responded because it's only their responsibility to call them, but that they have no responsibility to make sure that they perform the work. This was the best that I could get out of them after multiple phone calls.

In other words, it's the policy of GSRA to leave customers stranded.

Buyer beware with GSRA. You will be left high and dry if you choose them over a reputable service provided by a reputable company. I'm calling tomorrow to get my money back. If GSRA doesn't refund every penny of it, I'm doing a chargeback on my Visa.

  • I get your complaint but wonder if you can explain exactly what they should have done? They can't control the provider. Maybe it was the only one within 150 miles and he was on another call. Not looking to argue I get your complaint just wondering.

I think that most of the Roadside Assistance companies (Goodsam/Coachnet/AAA) use the same group of independent contractors. When we used Honda RA last year in FL, the first time the truck had AAA decals on it, the next time it was another independent tow truck. Same story in Ontario. For CharlesK, yes 12-14 CRVs were known to have battery/charging issues.

The Good Sam dispatcher may have dropped the ball, by failing to provide follow-up calls to insure that the contractor did make it to the customer.

That's good to know. I'll mention it to the dealer when I call them about the issue tomorrow.

    Thank you!

Why did the battery go dead in a new honda?

    No kidding...

We're thinking of replacing our Kia. Nice to learn about which brands to drop off the list!

  • GSRA just called my phone number looking for another person with a completely different vehicle. It would appear that I'm not the only lost soul that's received quality GSRA treatment this day.

GS just tried to upsell me that at the store today; told them no thanks.

Sidebar- does Honda not give you roadside assistance with a new car?

I had started digging through the pile of manuals and paperwork that came with the car when the guy finally showed up. I think that they do, though the point of buying the platinum was so that I had coverage on both the coach and toad. I can only imagine what sort of nightmare I would have had to go through to get someone to come help with the motor home.

I think you were wise to pass. Doing business with Camping World et al. is just throwing money away.

P.S. Thank you Good Sam! I really appreciate having to cancel a long planned dinner because you were too incompetent to get someone to jump start a Honda CR-V in a timely manner.
