Travel assist insurance
I recently signed up for the travel assistance insurance and when the brochure arrived it made no mention of where a person would be transported if they were a full time RVer with no home base. I called to check on this and the first person I spoke with did not seem to be able to grasp the concept of "full timer ", and kept telling me I would be transported to my primary residence. After explaining that my primary residence was my RV, she said i would be transported to my address on my drivers license. and as nice as my mail service folks may be, they are not equipped to have me and my RV in their office. After several explanations she checked with several supervisors and then said she would transfer me to the insurance provider. But she just transferred me back to the main number. Luckily the next representative was Katie who was did understand what full timer meant and said I would be able to be transported to either my legal address, or to wherever my primary care physician practiced. I asked if I could get that in writing, just in case, and she agreed to get back to me, which she has and it is as she stated, except that the coverage would be for whichever location was the least expensive. Any additional cost would be up to me if I wanted to go to a more expensive location. My concerns with this topic are: #1- if you are offering this insurance to RVers then your representatives should be able to grasp the concept of full time, which wasn't the case with the first rep, and #2 - this should be part of the written information in the brochure because it would be very stressful to find out at the time of need that Good Sam wants to send you to a mail box for recovery.
