As I read it, in order to get many of the benefits in this insurance, you must call 911 to get to a hospital and must be in a hospital for 7 days. Why would someone who falls and breaks an arm, for example, waste an ambulance crew's time by going to a hospital via an ambulance when a trip in a car to the ER will suffice? What benefits would be usable in that situation? (Doesn't appear to be much, IMHO!) Also, most hospitalizations are for less than 7 days- even those requiring surgery, such as have a gall bladder removed. It seems to me that by putting in those criteria, Travel Assist saves itself from having to "put out". Interested in feedback. Anyone?
It is not health insurance. It is EMERGENCY assistance in case of catastrophic injury or death. The company certainly is not going to "put out" for a broken arm since that is not what the policy is designed for. In my opinion, the criteria are just about right for what the policy is designed to do. I have had it for several years and never had to use it, thank God. With my health record, it gives me a lot of comfort to know it is there.
