Using Good Sam Card a hassle at Flying J

I have never had a problem getting my Fuel Discount using my Good Sam Card. I pay at the pump, and every Flying J has been hassle-free, a few times the receipt didn't print at the pump, so I will have to go in to ask for one, but that doesn't happen very often...

I appreciate the services the Flying J offers RV'ers, so if possible, Flying J is my preferred fuel stop. Unlike stated above, I normally find the Flying J's clean and safe for overnights while on the road. We just got back from Custer State Park in South Dakota, last week. We again never had a problem with Flying J.

Not to mention if one waits until the monthly 4X Fuel Point gift card promotion, you can buy gift cards for places and stores you need to shop at anyways that month while really racking up the fuel points fast.

Even if a person buys a $250 generic Visa cash card from them with the hefty $7 fee, That's 1,000 points (one dollar off per gallon) on 35 gallons you're still saving $28 dollars on that purchase. Since I don't have Kroger credit card, I use that Visa card I just purchased (to get the discount) to pay for the discounted gas I'm buying. :B

I have to disagree with the characterization of these being filthy. In fact, our impression is exactly the opposite. The facilities are clean and tidy. Perhaps some are dirty but that is certainly not the case of the ones we've used. Regarding the card, I had a problem one time called with the information from my receipt and the problems was immediately remedied.

Use my Pilot/Flying J card and get the discount automatically. The only problem is that some Pilot stations have a split setup. The Diesel lanes are Pilot but the gas maybe some other company. When this happens they do not honor the discount on the gas pumps.

Takes a bit of the bite off of RV travel. (And even if we don't get any purchase discount at all, using the Kroger card always yields 3¢ per gallon discount.)

I have a Frequent Fueler Advantage card from Pilot and use it at the pump at Pilot and FlyingJ stations with no problems.

Had the same problem with flying j. Maybe its just in the west as I travel a bunch there. I quit trying to use the good sam card...makes life easier. Not worth the hassle to get the discount.

I dont understand your issue at all. We use ours at the RV pumps all the time. We pull up, insert our credit card, insert our Good Sam card, discount applied to price, fill up, grab receipt, go! That's it.

Are you doing something wrong?

This is my experience as well. I have never had to go inside. It must be a California thing.

Just because both Pilot and Flying J are national chain's does not mean every location is using the same pumps and POS system / software.

FWIW I avoid them both like the plague, as I have found them to be the filthiest establishments both inside and out in most cases, and usually have more than their fair share of seedy looking individuals hanging around especially at night. Going out of my way to save $1.17 on a tank of fuel is not a high priority just the same as I do not go to the overpriced grocery chain, pay $40.00 more for a cart full, all so I can go out in the middle their parking lot to fantasy island afterwards and save another $1.17 on a tank of fuel while having 35 barcode club tags hanging from my key chain, and 27 discount cards stuffed in my wallet :S
