I've been a member for 12 years, however I won't be renewing my membership again. I would think twice before making an investment in order to get access to C2C.
cKarlGo, I think your decision makes perfect sense. If you have an issue that has not been resolved to your satisfaction, as you mentioned in your other thread, at some point that is the ultimate control we have as purchasers.
I guess the only area I would disagree with at all is your statement that "many of the resorts are of very low quality". We have run across a couple during all our years of FTing that I would put in that category. But we have probably stayed in C2C parks in 25 to 30 states and provinces that would not meet that definition in our opinion.
But then again, differences of opinion helps make the world go round.
No, your point is very well taken. I should have put geographical limitations on that statement. i.e. Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina & Pennsylvania.
South Carolina has lost all of its resorts except for one (one of them only stayed in the system for a year before dropping out). The remaining one is, while not dreadful, very worn and less than desirable for a number of reasons. Another in Virginia, which was a fun destination the second year that I was a member, has completely disintegrated in recent years. The last time I stayed there, the power was so bad that I couldn't run my microwave even with all the other electrical appliances turned off. These are just a couple of examples.
To be frank, I don't expect things to improve, but expect more of the same and worse with Camping World in control. My observation has been that Good Sam/Camping World deals with individual issues brought up here in the name of publicity, while tolerating systemic problems that plague them across the spectrum of their businesses. It's hard to believe that this is by anything other than design, which is why I, like so many others, do not do business there except as a last resort.
