What if I,m stuck but not broke down.

Will my Roadside Assistance cover a tow truck call to get me out of a ditch? I just canceled my coverage through my auto insurance that would cover a tow truck call if i were stuck. I did not want to pay for duplicate coverage. Now with winter weather in the area I'm concerned that going with Roadside Assistance only might have been a mistake. So the question is will Roadside Assistance cover the cost of a wrecker to get me back on the road if I am not disabled due to a breakdown but i am stuck on the side of the road?

Look at Good Sam on the internet and then just call customer service for your answer.

Thank you for the post rayhough. Actually you provided an example of exactly what I mentioned in my example. This is what I meant by an area that is designated for RV parking. We would also provide winching for any members parked in a designated RV parking area who become stuck.

We had a large rally at a town park, many motorhomes got stuck after a heavy rain. Coachnet covered the tow for all that were members. This will most likely get deleted by the administrator.

Thank you for the post mustangglp. You are correct that we would provide service in "most" places an RVer may take a toy hauler. The thing to remember is that is still has to be a designated RV parking location or maintained road. Where you may run into a problem would be a sand or beach area. An example of a non-covered area would be the BLM land in Arizona where it is popular to boondock. This would also apply to some of the popular places to take sand rails or dune buggies. Many vendors will not provide service in these types of locations for fear of becoming stuck themselves.

That's scary. This is one of my concerns. Towing SHOULD include getting out of the mud (or snow). I'll see if we get an official answer.

This happened 5 years ago & they were parked on Church property. I felt bad as I am a Lifetime member & encouraged them to purchase GSERS when they bought their MH.

I think it would be rather expenisve either way to get a tow truck out to someone with a toyhauler in off beaten places of California or anywhere for that matter.

Sounds like it will not cover most places one would take toy hauler? Anyways in California.

My PLAN B includes a come-a-long and a heavy duty 50-foot tow strap in my truck tool box. have used it three times so far over the years mainly for the truck but should help big winching out a truck connected to a trailer... Even an inch at a time is progress...

Its all about PLAN Bs...

This is the answer I was looking for. I did look online and did not see the answer. Glad I posted it here. I'm sure someone else has the same thoughts. The winter weather has some of us think about the travel issues. Again I am comfortable with my decision to go with Good Sams Roadside Assistance.

Our RV programs provide 2 hours of "winching" as described in the member benefit brochures. As mentioned you would need to be traveling on an eligible road as described in our benefit brochures.

Thank you for the post also Emptypockets. It sounds like something may have gotten lost in translation on this. Members are eligible for the same winching services as listed above so long as they are parked in a designated RV parking area. Generally campgrounds will provide a cement pad, graded gravel area or in the case of state and national parks it may be a graded dirt area. In addition Rallies and large RV gatherings may have grassy areas designated for parking during the event. In addition we will provide service for vehicles parked on private property owned by the member. We realize that sometimes members will park their RVs beside their house, driveway or potentially an out-building/barn for storage purposes. Let me answer the question before it is asked; "what is the difference between who owns the property the RV is parked on?" Historically the majority of these types of requests happen on the member's property so rather then not cover any of them we decided to cover the ones on their own property. Each of the program guidelines are reviewed at least once a year. I will be sure to mention this one in the next review.
