What is roadside service

I see a lot of people talking about the ers, both GS and coach-net. What exactly does this get you? We have a roadside service with the insurance on our mh. We have dressed them several times when we have broken down or had flat tires over the years. What does coach-net or gsers do that this doesn't? I just can't see the purpose of buying either one of these, but, I have been wrong before and I will be wrong again. Thank you in advance for adding to my knowledge.

  • Thank you for the replies. When I get some more time again I will look into what they cover. If they send out a service truck I would have to still pay for the repairs myself right? So just what would it be covering? Just their service call for coming out there?

  • Hello Ron8877,

Thank you for your E-mail. Typically a Roadside Assistance Rider on an Insurance Policy is very limited on what it will and won't cover. Also many times it is a reimbursement for services rendered. What Good Sam Roadside Assistance offers is a sign and drive service that, you will not have to almost ever have an out of pocket expense. Beyond that we have a 24/7 dispatch service that has access to the most heavy line haulers in the nation, and one of the nation largest network for non RV issues as well. We have on staff certified RV Technicians who can help with many Technical Issues as well. I would suggest heading to www.goodsamroadside.com and look and compare our products with the coverage you have with your insurance provider.

  • Your insurance company roadside service "may" get you a tow truck and not much else.
Coach-Net also has a GREAT tech support service to help diagnose problems and will even send out a mobile mechanic if needed. On vacation with a previous MH I used Coach-Net support to help find a local source of new power converter unit.

    Don't leave home without Coach-net.
  • If your insurance covers these things, then you don't need the other programs. Not all insurance will cover the smaller things like a flat tire. And changing a tire on a large MH is not something for the faint of heart!

What you may want to check, is what you are paying for the Roadside Assistance on your Insurance? You may find that it's cheaper with one of the other plans? Then again, you may not!

    Happy Camping:)
