When to get extended service plan

Just bought a new class A. The extended warranty seemed too expensive. I tried to get a quote from Good Sam but the web page kept saying incorrect telephone format. My real question is do most buy the extended warranty right away even though you have a full year warranty or is there an advantage to getting it right away? Thanks

  • Hello wd,

Thank you for contacting Good Sam, I apologize you were unable to obtain a quote. Please provide your contact number in a private message, I will have a licensed agent contact you regarding a quote and to answer any additional questions you may have about the plans offered by Good Sam.

  • Ditto what the others say. I had one once; it had a lot of exclusions. It said I had to pay a dealer to service the trailer, everything from the roof caulking to lubricating things. If I didn't do that they would deny any claim. Dealer wanted $300 to caulk my roof! I had a flat tire claim that was denied because I didn't call in for approval prior to buying new tire. I was stranded on a mountain with no cell reception and couldn't call first. I then cancelled the service/warranty contract, only to find that they apply the reimbursement to the end of the contract. Pay yourself and learn to repair and maintain the RV yourself. You are better off in the long run. Good luck

Unless it is offered/supported by the RV MFG it is NOT a 'warranty plan'

It is a 'Service Plan' that has more exclusions then valid coverage

    PASS!!

Establish an 'Emergency Fund'....then pay into it monthly just like a reoccurring bill.

7 yrs FT and our 'emergency fund' was used for other expenses when we came off the road.

    Best advice you can get.
