I will counter the nos with a YES for me. I am not handy nor able to fix much and as I age, less able. There are plans that give good coverage for major items, they do not repair things that need adjustment generally but a part failure can be covered. Read the exclusions carefully. Ours overs all RV systems and engine and drive train and more. Wear and tear items would not be covered so no tires, brakes and the like.
IF you decide to get one, do it while new. If you wait your will likely have to get it inspected. Yes, a 7 year service contract (aka warranty) on a new rv is covered by the a manufacturer the first year.
We have had three service contracts over the years. One we were slightly under what we paid when we sold it, one slightly under if we paid out of pocket and the last one we got back way more - had $9k of repairs in three months all covered. (rear differential, alternator and more failed and YES, I do get regular maintenance.)
Cons to contracts, odds are you will not get it all back. Big pro to me, I do not have top worry about a huge expense. You must know the fine print, get approval in advance of the work and understand what items will not be covered before you purchase. There are HUGE differences in coverage and cost - read and compare carefully.
My repair skills are so low I will have to pay for almost any work getting done. For us, a service contract is worth the piece of mind. Kind of like life insurance, I hope to never use it!
