Why Are Membership Fees Hidden?

Why does Good Sam hide the membership fees for membership other than the basic? I know of no other organization that won't tell you up front what the different levels cost. Good Sam requires you sign up and join first before they will tell you what the upgrade cost is. that seems to me to be a pretty shady way to do business. Do people really sign up that way? Chuck

  • Good Sam Club has 4 levels:
    1st year member
Membership rates are found by clicking "Join" on GoodSamClub.com

    Deluxe member
When you renew your membership, or if you join for more than one year, you become a Deluxe member. There is no additional fee above and beyond the regular renewal membership rate. Renewal rates are found by signing in at GoodSamClub.com and clicking "renew".

    Life member
Once you join the club you can opt to upgrade your membership to a Life membership. The FAQ page of GoodSamClub.com offers details on all membership levels. You can find the Life member details here.

    Elite member
The only way to become an Elite member is to purchase an RV from Camping World. Find details here.

    Sincerely,
    Good Sam Club Team
  • Hey! You found it!

    Regular price $499
    Current price $399
"Qualifying (seniors 65 and over or veterans) members can upgrade for $299"

There is also an Elite level, but you have to buy a camper fro CW for that, don't you?
  • I only get the option for one ear or two and the prices are seen.
Unless you want a life membership which has the price at
    https://www.goodsamclub.com/lifemember/Default.aspx
  • I looked, too, and didn't find that information. It just says to call for the Life and Veteran levels.

Are those the only other levels?
  • The initial basic fee is available but any upgrades can't be seen until after you sign up to join. Chuck
  • Marcus is putting serendipity back into RVing. Why should it all be so boring and predictable? I'm thinking of opening a store using the same concept. No prices on any products. When you check out, I'll let you know how much you owe. I think it'll be a huge hit. :-)

I'm kidding, of course. Are you sure the fees aren't available? That is quite odd if not.
