Be informed, ask what is their normal price.

Like last month I was ordering a bunch at Home Depot so I get the coupon out but it is expired. But I need the stuff so I make the order. A week after delivery I get the next set of coupons. Disappointing, yes. Immoral or unfair, No. Could have saved a couple hundred $$.

This is standard operating procedure for service products. The fact is, giving you (the longtime customer) a discount doesn't increase their bottom line. Signing up new customers, even at a discount, does increase their bottom line.

This is why I never use the "new customer pricing" as a reason to go with a company. Instead, I use the regular rates. If the regular rate is too high, then I go elsewhere.

Up to the consumer to ask the renewal rate up front before deciding to go forward. No reason to be blind sided.

Like renting an apartment and getting a free month rent to move in. The next year the landlord will have the audacity to expect all 12 months to be paid.

Many deals like this for new customers. Normal and ordinary.
